Our History

Oban Memorials is a family run business based in Oban, Argyll with a heritage stretching back almost a century, which is now in its 4th generation.
The company was established in 1989 by the late Alistair MacLean, formerly of John MacDougall & Co, where he served 43 years. He continued to be a part of Oban Memorials right up until his sudden passing in 2016. The company is now owned and run by his son, Dugald MacLean, a Monumental Sculptor with over 40 years’ experience.

As well as creating modern and traditional memorials, the team can undertake additional lettering, cleaning and repainting existing inscriptions on memorials in most cemeteries in and around Argyll and The Isles.

As members of the National Association of Memorial Masons, we work to a strict code of conduct, to produce quality work and high standards of safety and memorial construction through qualifications.
